Royal Academy of Music appointment

Ben Hughes is Principal Cello of the BBC Concert Orchestra and a highly committed and insightful pedagogue. This role has been created to allow Academy strings students to benefit specifically from his holistic understanding of the profession and of the specific skills required to achieve excellence in orchestral playing. Jo Cole, Head of Strings, says: ?It has long been my wish to establish a dedicated teaching role at the Academy for the benefit of students whose orchestral ambitions are at the highest international level. In Ben Hughes we have found the key blend of knowledge, experience and teaching skills to make this exciting appointment possible. The strings faculty is now richly resourced with significant international orchestral players amongst its professors, which is reflected in the high graduate success rate in the increasingly competitive international orchestral job market.?
